Corporate Diplomatic Advice and Training Case Study

The External Affairs Advisor to the CEO of one of the world’s largest insurance companies approached Gatehouse for assistance managing the organisation’s communication with critical external stakeholders around the world.

Their existing engagement with external stakeholders was ad hoc, ill-defined and dependent on personalities at the local level, with a high degree of inconsistency.   They wanted a more coordinated strategy that ensured key relationships were ‘owned’ by the Company rather than the individual and that there was a clear process, with aims and actions that key staff could follow.

Gatehouse and the External Affairs Team completed a Training Needs Analysis. This delivered a thorough understanding of our client’s existing process and highlighted where they were successful and where further instruction was required.  Gatehouse then designed a training course to address the areas requiring improvement and define best practice in Stakeholder Engagement.

The Training Course was delivered by a multi-disciplined team of subject matter experts drawn from the Gatehouse global network, all with demonstrable experience of managing complex and fast moving events through the application of sound engagement plans. Our client was able to see in practice how the techniques we gave them had been used to shape an operating environment and lead to quantifiable successes.

The External Affairs team are now able to set clear objectives for the overseas teams, measure performance and own the stakeholder relationships, so that the business remains durable beyond the departure of individual employees.
